No not really. But if you do music or know someone that does, then you definitely need to check this out. Bandcamp.com is a site designed to handle all the stuff that artists number one; don’t have the energy to do; and number two, thoroughly hate doing.
For example this site provides a one stop shop for people to see your entire discography, listen to every song, download/buy (your choice) any one of your CD’s, and even purchase merch. Not only that, it’s all in the artist’s hands. You can set the price per individual song, make the CD entirely free; OR you can even allow the listener to set their own price if you’re on your Radiohead tip.
Upload you artwork, make the page a part of your already established website, collect buyer/down-loaders emails to create a mailing list, it’s completely customizable and very easy to do. This is way different than the garbage myspace approach, sending out “Thanks for the add” messages. There are no advertisements all over your page, this is completely yours. It takes about 30 minutes to get your entire page ready, uploaded CD and all, and last but not least, it’s free
